  1. At the Iowa State Fair they have Fried Butter on a stick. Never have tried it, but those who have, say it is good. They also have Deep fried Snickers bars. I forget how many hundreds of foods you can get on a stick and each year they seem to add more foods on a stick.

I’m looking forward to trying these out in my own kitchen–especially the Coca-Cola cake! I’ve been working on my own recipe for jalapeno burgers, my certified, number one favorite fair food. Even with pepperjack cheese and chopped jalapeno slices in the burger, I just can’t get that fair zing. Any tips?

I really liked the fried ice cream idea. The main problem with State fair food is that it is so greasy and unhealthy, if you have the slightest stomach problems (like me) you can’t touch the stuff. I always envied the people that could have elephant ears because they looked so good. I wondered if you had any ideas for modifications to that recipe? Also, for the coke cake recipe, do you know if you can use gluten-free flour and this will still work? Thanks.

Growing up, I would always look forward to heading north to visit the Wisconsin State Fair. I loved sampling the array of delicious and deep-fried foods. One of my favorites was always the corn dog. I am looking forward to trying the Homemade Cowboy Corn Dogs recipe, because it features a unique dipping sauce. Traditionally, I eat corn dogs with ketchup, but I think the spiciness of the cowboy sauce will definitely enhance the overall flavor of the corn dog. Thank you for this fresh take on a state fair classic!
