Chili Recipes

As the football games begin, chili becomes more of a staple at all the parties and events. Personally, I prefer to make chili in the slow cooker versus on the stove top; however, it’s a personal preference for everyone.
Did you know that there are a variety of ways to make chili? Different flavors? Cooking methods?

The two that we eat regularly at our house are slow cooker beef chili and slow cooker white chicken chili outside of that we rarely try any others. I thought I would branch out and share a few recipes that I have stumbled on recently that add a nice flavor and twist to the traditional chili.
Southwestern Chicken Chili – This chili definitely describes my hometown, ranch. All things are better with a package of ranch, which is proven when you taste this chili. There is also pasta added in this chili, which I believe makes it a little more kid friendly.

Frito Chili Pie – This is how my family likes to eat chili, which maybe that’s because as Ree is from Oklahoma, so are we. Ree takes it a bit further and makes it even more of a game day meal serving the chili straight from the Frito bags. Brilliant!

New World Chili – This chili adds a fall twist by adding butternut squash, pumpkin, and dried cranberries. It also uses turkey as opposed to chicken or beef. This is a hearty chili that is low in fat as well.

Pumpkin Chili – I am a pumpkin lover; however, I have yet to try pumpkin chili. I have heard raves about it though and this year I plan to make a batch of this pumpkin chili that also utilizes turkey; however, you can use chicken or beef as well.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Chili – This chili takes on a whole new twist by serving it over a bed of rice as oppose to traditional cornbread. This chili adds a Mexican flare, and is sure to be tasty and appreciated at your dinner table this year.

These are a few of my favorite twists on chili, what is your favorite? Do you have a traditional chili recipe that is loved in your household?
