The fall entertaining season is here, and you know what that means. Food! And lots of it! With football game watch parties going on on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays, plus the Primetime Emmys coming up next weekend, now’s the time to be thinking about what you’re going to nosh on while cozying up on your couch. Oh, and I shouldn’t even have to mention it, but fall TV is also back, which means even more quality couch time, so yes… it’s definitely time to start figuring out the best snacks and apps to make to go along with your favorite fall entertainment.
Whether you’re having guests over or are just planning a low-key night-in to watch the big game/awards show/Grey’s Anatomy, I think the best bet when it comes to food is to make a bunch of bite-sized treats. Not only are miniature appetizers and snacks easier to handle when you’re balancing a plate on your lap while you snuggle up on the couch, but “bites” are also great because you can make a whole lot of different things and then you get to sample a little bit of everything! How’s that for reasoning?!
So, with all that being said, I decided to round up some of my all-time favorite recipes for bite-sized dishes. From savory to sweet, these mini meals pack in a lot of flavor for their size. Check them out…
Bite-Sized Appetizers:
Chili Con Queso Bites – These cheesy muffin tin treats are really what great finger food is all about. Tons of flavor in bite-sized pieces that are easy to make and even easier to eat. You really can’t go wrong with these yummy snacks.
Chewy Soft Pretzel Bites – Oh man, do I love pretzels. Especially when they’re soft and warm out of the oven. These mini pretzel puffs are some of my favorite snacks to nosh on because of their chewy goodness. The only danger here is once you start popping these pretzels, it’s hard to get yourself to stop!
Nacho Cheese Bites – It’s a fact: people love nachos. But they can also be pretty messy, especially when you’re trying to share a big plateful with your friends. That’s why I love these fun little nacho cheese bites. Same great flavor, but way easier to manage for a party.
Bite-Sized Desserts:
Bite Sized Apple Fritters (via The Seaside Baker) – I can’t think of a better dessert to serve guests this fall than these yummy looking mini apple fritters. Basically you’re getting a dozen delicious apple treats for the price of one with this easy recipe. Bite-sized doughy apple goodness? Sign me up!
Shortbread Brownie Bites – Brownies have always been a go-to party food, for me at least. Now you can make them into bite-sized indulgences, plus add a delicious twist. These treats are chewy, chocolate-y brownies baked on top of a shortbread cookie crust for maximum dessert flavor. Go ahead, indulge in a bite or two…
Mini Peanut Butter Chocolate Cheesecakes (via Annie’s Eats) – Okay, since we’re talking about indulgences, why not throw in one of the most decadent, rich and delicious treats I think I’ve ever seen. Am I right? These heavenly miniature cheesecakes are the ultimate crowd pleaser because they look absolutely amazing and taste even better. You and your guests will be popping these bite-sized desserts like there’s no tomorrow… I can pretty much tell you that right now!
So there you have it… a bunch of bite-sized goodness to enjoy this season. Now are you ready to watch some football/awards shows/primetime TV?!? I know I am!

Now that it’s almost fall, I am so excited to use my favorite ingredient: pumpkin. I usually serve my light pumpkin fudge (made with one box of brownie batter and a can of pumpkin- that’s it!), or my pumpkin chocolate chip bite-size muffins. Added bonus: pumpkin has great nutritional benefits. I use it as much as I can in the fall.
