This past weekend, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend BlissDom, a conference for bloggers and companies in Dallas, Texas. Going in, I wasn’t sure what to expect. As an editor for AllFreeCopycatRecipes.com and RecipeChatter.com, I looked forward to picking up helpful hints and tips to make the sites the best they can be for the readers. As someone who both loves to blog and follows more than a few (dozen) blogs, I looked forward to learning more about the business of writing, sharing and collaborating online.
I was excited to meet event sponsors like Seattle’s Best Coffee and Famous Footwear (they gave away the cupcakes in the picture below), to name just a few of many companies in attendance. Most importantly, I was looking forward to a new experience and stepping outside of my comfort zone. After all, this was a conference tailored to “following your bliss”.
I arrived in Texas and I was delighted by the balmy weather. I’m from Chicago, so a trip down south during this blustery cold winter was just what I needed. Upon arriving, I met some of my favorite bloggers in person, who are authors of recipes you are sure to recognize. It was great meeting Crystal, the blogger behind Mrs. Happy Homemaker. Her recipe for French Vanilla Coffee Creamer is an AllFreeCopycatRecipes.com fan favorite. After a year of chit chatting online, it was nice to put a face to a name! She took the picture of us below, which is pretty darn cute if I say so myself. I also met up with Mackenzie from Cheerios and Lattes, who has a recipe for the most refreshing Copycat Chick-fil-A Sweet Tea.
One great part of the conference was the Handmade Market Place. I love handmade crafts (and if you do too, check out our friends at FaveCrafts.com) and there was a room full of perfectly cute and creative wares that I loved browsing.
It was a whirlwind of thoughtful and empowering speakers. It was great to take time to focus on what makes writing great and what makes websites grow. I hope to make the journey back next year! If you have any suggestions, feel free to contact me anytime!
