Cabbage Recipes We Love

September 6, 2012 by AllFreeSlowCookerRecipes 3 Comments

Our readers love cabbage recipes, no matter the season! A particularly common way to eat cabbage is in the form of cabbage rolls–or cabbage casserole. Our friends at AllFreeCasseroleRecipes.com have got their pulse on the cabbage casseroles. In fact, they’ve got an entire collection of cabbage casseroles called Cabbage Recipes We Love: 9 Cabbage Casserole Recipes.

In their collection of 9 cabbage casserole recipes, they feature a variety of stuffed cabbage roll recipes, cheesy cabbage recipes and more. We wanted to highlight a couple of our favorites, but you’ll have to check out their whole collection to get the rest.

One recipe we think is truly unique, is their recipe for Scalloped Cabbage Casserole, a play on scalloped potatoes. A southern-style dish, it’s made with cabbage, onion, bacon and a buttery, white sauce. You can’t go wrong when a butter sauce and bacon are involved! Plus, the dish only takes 30 minutes to cook, so you’ll be munching this creamy dish in no time.

Another dish we like from the cabbage casserole recipes collection is their recipe for Cheesy Deconstructed Stuffed Cabbage Casserole. It’s a mouthful to say and to eat. It’s made with smoky ground beef, tender cabbage, garlic, tomato sauce and cheese. It serves 8, so feed a crowd. If you’re feeding a smaller family, freeze the rest and it enjoy it as leftovers–a dish like this will freeze really well.

Check out their full collection for more cabbage casserole recipes.

P.S. If you’re looking for slow cooker cabbage recipes, our friends at AllFreeSlowCookerRecipes.com have some great cabbage ideas too.

What’s your favorite way to cook with cabbage?

Cabbage is so wrongly under appreciated by everyone I cook for. These recipes look awesome, especially Cheesy Deconstructed Stuffed Cabbage Casserole. I can’t wait to try them out and prove the worth of the cabbage to my boyfriend.

I think that cabbage is a veggie that’s often over looked for its flashy cousin, lettuce. I actually enjoy cabbage more than lettuce, but never know what to do with it, other than cook it with roast beef. Maybe if you could stick some cabbage in a sandwich, it would be more popular. I guess you have to work for the good things in life. Thanks for the suggestions!

There was a place that made roast beef sandwiches and used shredded cabbage instead of lettuce….was a favorite of mine.
