Don’t judge me. I love butter. I know it’s not the healthiest food gift in the world, granted, it’s a tragic arch-enemy to most, but I can’t help but splurge during the holidays because it’s really the one time of year that I do.
Sometimes, it’s just not the holidays without an awesome cookie and homemade traditional recipes like pasta. It’s the only time of year that my family cooks like this, so I feel like I have to take advantage. So my gift to them this year (hopefully they don’t see this post before Thanksgiving) will be a basket of some of my favorite compound butter recipes. They make for great additions to an appetizer buffet, plus are delicious on toast the morning after entertaining. They’re adorable in mason jars, wrapped up wax paper, and if you have the time, with preferred uses scribbled on the labels. I know, I’m adorable.
But, I can’t take all the credit. Check out where I got my inspiration from this year.
This Cilantro Lime Compound Butter recipe from Good Life Eats seems like it would be perfect on corn on the cob or mashed potatoes.
This recipe for Herbed Compound Butter from Your Home Based Mom is a classic compound butter recipe and would be great on burgers, steaks and most proteins.
And lastly, this recipe for Orange Honey Butter from Created by Diane might take the cake for me. This would be delicious on pancakes and waffles.
Some of my other favorites included cinnamon sugar butter, apple butter and pumpkin butter. Mmm, sounds too good to just think about. I better get started on these stat.
