We recently featured on our blog a wonderful recipe for Jiggle-No-More Gingerbread Truffles, from The Biggest Loser Dessert Cookbook, by Devin Alexander. We have a another special treat for our readers today, a Q&A with Devin herself!
We were fortunate enough to ask Devin some questions to help readers get to know her, and more about her passion for eating healthy, a little better. Check out her answers below:
1) Give us 5 random facts about yourself:
• I’m a Virgo and so are both of my parents – I think that’s what makes me so focused and gives me the patience to be able to create recipes that actually taste like the real thing.
• I’m a total night owl.
• I’m hoping to adopt a couple of foster children in upcoming years.
• I’m working on launching a dessert line.
• I eat chocolate everyday even though I’ve maintained a 70 pound weight loss.
2) What do you love most about cooking and/or making cooking more healthy?
It allows me (and others) to be able to eat the foods we truly love – you can’t currently buy most of the dishes and desserts I make anywhere with as few calories and as many wholesome ingredients. If I wasn’t committed to doing it, I’d either gain weight or feel deprived.
3) Do you have a favorite food memory?
When I was a kid, my brother, sister and I all had a red shirt that my mother deemed our “spaghetti shirt”. When we came home from school and we were going to be eating spaghetti, she would say, “Put on your spaghetti shirt.” I couldn’t run upstairs fast enough–I LOVED those nights of homemade spaghetti and meatballs!
4) What’s your favorite weeknight meal?
It is constantly changing. Honestly, I write so many recipes (working on cookbook #7 in 5 years) – that dinner is usually the leftovers from my favorite dish of the day. I would throw away or have to give away so much food if I didn’t eat dinner that way.
5) What do you think is the most under-rated vegetable?
Arugula. I use it in so many dishes and make simple, yet really flavorful salads with it very often.

I am so glad the author published a dessert cookbook that is light. I love all kind of desserts, but I know I can have traditional heavy desserts every day of the week. Will have to take a look at some of the options offered in this cookbook. Thanks!
