Thanks to our regular contributor Kristy from Mommy Hates Cooking for writing up this awesome post about slow cooker soups.
Slow Cooker Soups
As the weather gets cooler and our schedule gets busier, I typically rely heavily on my slow cooker. My family also enjoys having more soups during this time of year. The one thing I love about soup is the amount that it makes. Most soups are likely to feed anywhere from 6-10 people. For my family of 3, this is WAY too much food for us to eat. What do we do? Freezer cooking!
Soup is one of the best meals to freezer cook. I like to take half of the soup that I make and put it in a freezer safe container, then when I am ready to serve it again I put it on either low or warm in my slow cooker to heat it up again. I thought today I would share a few of my favorite Slow Cooker Soups, Stews, and Chili Recipes. I hope that you find a few you will enjoy as well.
Slow Cooker White Chicken Chili – This is a nice, healthy alternative to traditional beef chili. It is perfect served over fresh cornbread.
Slow Cooker Beef Chili – This is my all time favorite chili, it’s the traditional version of chili that can be served as a Frito Chili Pie or over cornbread. I also like to use the leftovers of this chili on hot dogs, in chili cheese tater tot casserole, or chili macaroni casserole. There are a variety of ways to utilize the leftovers with this dish.
Slow Cooker Chicken Noodle Soup – This is a family favorite that has been around for centuries. This delicious soup is sure to warm up anyone on a cold day.
Slow Cooker Tomato Soup – Pair this soup with a warm grilled cheese and lunch or dinner is served. This one makes me hungry just thinking about it!
Slow Cooker Bean Soup – I am not much of a bean soup person; however, I hear it is very healthy. I probably should give this one a try.
Slow Cooker Buffalo Wing Soup – Now, this one was a new idea to me, I had never even thought of creating something like this. I think this would be perfect to serve at a football party!
These are just a few slow cooker soups to get you started. Do you have a favorite? Do you prefer to slow cook soup or cook it on the stove?
