Today’s Recipe

On the ninth day of our 12 Days of Christmas in July Giveaway, my true love gave to me…this Chicken Lo Mein inspired by Harold Import Co. and straight from our test kitchen!
HIC-Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 medium (8-10 ounces) boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into strips
  • 1 stalk celery, sliced thinly
  • 1 small onion, sliced thinly
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons diced red bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup cocktail peanuts
  • 4 ounces uncooked spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Maggi seasoning
  • 1/8 teaspoon dark sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

DIRECTIONS

Cook spaghetti according to package directions. Drain and set aside.

Mix the teriyaki sauce, fish sauce, Maggi and the sesame oil in a small bowl. Set aside.

Mix the cornstarch and water in a small bowl. Set aside.

Heat pan over medium-high heat. Add oil and heat through.

Add chicken to the pan, stirring constantly until cooked through and golden in color. Add the celery, onion, garlic and bell pepper, stirring until celery turns bright green.

Add the cooked spaghetti and the teriyaki mixture, tossing so the spaghetti is well coated.

Add the cornstarch mixture and stir contents of the pan well. Cook for 1 minute.

Serve immediately.

      TERRIYAKI is my MOST FAVORITE of all Chinese Flavors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I don’t know that I have a favorite. Growing up in Hawaii I had access to anything & everything. Living on the mainland, I guess I miss stuffed tofu and dim sum.

    I like anything spicy especially Kung Pao….yum. I do make some simple stir fry’s at home, we are trying to eat healthier plus I get more veggies into my husband that way

    Kung Pao Beef-I love the crunchy, salty heat of the dish. I’ll order other things sometimes so I won’t get in rut but I’m never as satisfied.

    Everything, but hold the salt and the hot. Buffet makes it nice to sample many things, but if I had to choose, probably cashew chicken or beef and broccoli.

    Reading all these responses is making me think go get or cook Chinese. I love fried rice, honey walnut shrimp, and cashew chicken. By the time I get my Chinese, it may be chicken lo mein.

    My absolute favorite dish is beef & broccoli. I also love a great lo mien and fried rice. Great now I want to order Chinese food. I need a wok so I can just make it at home and save a ton of money.
