I used to live for cookie exchanges when I was a kid. For years, my mom would come home from the neighborhood cookie exchange with trays piled high with baked goods of all kinds. She always left with the same type of cookies: spritzer shortbread cookies that had been dipped in chocolate and sprinkles. We affectionately refer to these cookies as “dipped cookies.” To this day, these are a family favorite and we make them yearly. We legitimately set up an assembling line to produce as many as possible–and almost all of them are for our consumption.
But enough of my family’s quirks. Cookie exchanges are one of the best ways to catch up with friends during the busy holiday season, but let’s be honest: the holidays aren’t always the healthiest. Between all of the parties and family dinners, it’s very easy to over-indulge during this crazy time of year.
For all of those cookie exchange and “bring a dish to pass” invites, reach for one of these healthy cookie recipes. It’s hard to find a good, healthy cookie recipe, but we’ve got plenty for you. Maybe you’ll even find your new family favorite!
