For those who grew up on Maurice Sendak books, the news that Maurice Sendak died today is very sad. The children’s author, known for his acclaimed Where the Wild Things Are and other books died today at the age of 83.
In the Where the Wild Things Are book, main character, Max–the wild thing– is sent to bed without his dinner. In his room, a wild forest and sea grows and Max travels to the land of the Wild Things. After proving himself fiercest among the creatures there, Max returns to his room at home and finds his supper waiting for him–still hot.
