Many of these recipes are the kind of vintage desserts that have been passed down through generations, and they make an appearance at Sunday dinner and potlucks over and over again. From classic cakes, to southern pie recipes, and more, these 8 recipes are some of the best desserts ever made in southern kitchens.

I’m back home for spring break, but just looking at these pictures make me miss being at school in the South! The recipes look mouth-wateringly delicious, and I can’t wait to try them out. Thank you for compiling so many great ideas in one post–some even look easy enough to make in my dorm room!

These look so delicious! My stomach is growling just looking at the pictures. I think one of my favorite southern desserts is a honeybun cake my friend’s mother always makes. It tastes just like a honeybun roll. I always get psyched to go over to his house for dinner because I know she’ll probably cook it and send me home with some as well. It also makes an amazing breakfast with a strong cup of coffee.

My mouth is watering. As a student studying abroad in Spain, I have had my fair share of delicious European desserts, but there’s nothing quite like the taste of home. The Southern Comfort Hummingbird Cake looks especially delicious. My mother, sister, and I are always looking for unique dishes to bring to pot lucks and family parties, a dessert with this many indulgent flavors is sure to be a hit!
