Organic Bistro Frozen Meals Giveaway and Review

August 26, 2009 by RecipeLion 44 Comments

We are very excited to be able to review Organic Bistro’s frozen meals and offer 2 free coupons to one lucky reader (up to a $14 value for both!). It is often hard to find healthy frozen meals that are actually good for you. Most frozen foods are full of sodium, calories and a bunch of ingredients you can’t begin to pronounce. We think we’ve found something different with Organic Bistro. You can taste and see every ingredient! Plus, there are some gluten-free or non-dairy choices. Everything from the chicken to the herbs and spices are natural and organic in Organic Bistro.

We sampled the Wild Salmon with Rosemary Orange Glaze, Cranberry Pilaf and Broccoli first. Salmon is a difficult task to take on in a frozen meal, so we were impressed with the effort. The pilaf was nutty and full of filling whole grains, but we wanted even more cranberries! We thought a touch of salt could have brought out the flavor of the dish even more, and this meal was SO low in sodium– really unlike other frozen meals and perfect so you can add your own salt if needed.

Next we tried the Ginger Chicken with Green Tea Vegetables and Almond Pilaf. We were amazed that frozen chicken could taste so much like…chicken! But this wasn’t our favorite meal we tried. We completely devoured the Chicken Citron, which included a Lemon Chicken Breast on Spinach with Herbed Quinoa and Sundried-Tomato Edamame. And yes, it was just as good as it sounded. This one was packed with flavor and really tasted citrusy. The chicken was lemony, and the spinach tasted like it was freshly steamed. The sun-dried tomatoes and edamame were an unexpected combination, but I’m going to have to try making it myself! We didn’t plan accordingly, so we had our taste test right after lunch. This still did not stop of from eating every last bite of Chicken Citron.

So now, one lucky reader will have the chance to win two coupons for these Organic Bistro meals or others. I would personally try the Jamaican Shrimp Cake with Mango-Black Bean Rice…but there are a lot of delicious sounding choices. All you have to do is comment on the blog, and the best comment wins!

Even if you aren’t the lucky winner, you can still get a discount on these naturally nutritious meals. Email jessica.rogers@theorganicbistro.com for a $1 off coupon. Aren’t you lucky to be a RecipeLion Blog reader?

I’ve avoided frozen dinners mostly because I too well remember the old frozen dinners with their cardboard-like flavor and waaaaaay too much salt BUT I’ll give these ones a try on your recommendation
