Pokémon Go Inspired Cookies Recipe

July 22, 2016 by RecipeChatter

Obsessed with the new Pokémon Go game? I don’t think anyone thought this game would actually change the world! But it already has. People are still wandering around staring at their phones, but now there’s a sense of community about that activity. It’s really inspiring! People are probably going to meet and become friends because of this game, then go on and make a difference!

What better way to celebrate world-changing friendships (or a really great app game) than with an easy cookie recipe? Our Test Kitchen chef Christina Hammond made this Pokémon Go Inspired Cookies Recipe. The cookies resemble Pokéballs. Man, I am always running out of those lately. I need to hit up some Pokéstops.

Pokemon Cookies

While all you fellow Pokémon nerds are listening, I have a question for you. What Pokémon is dominating your area? Here in Northern Illinois, I’m seeing a lot of Weedles. However, I was down in Alabama this weekend, and they have an amazing number of Zubats all over Birmingham. I’m wondering if each city/state has its own characteristic Pokémon in droves. What’s around you? And what’s the coolest Pokémon you’ve caught so far? Let us know in the comments. 🙂

Ingredients:

  • 1 tube of prepared sugar cookie dough, such as Pillsbury
  • 1 tub of white frosting
  • food coloring
  • white chocolate chips to decorate

Instructions:

  1. Bake cookies according to package directions and allow to cool completely.
  2. Divide tub of frosting into small bowls as follows:
    1/4 tub for black
split remaining into two bowls for white and red
  3. In the bowl for the black frosting, add equal amounts of blue, red and yellow food coloring to make a very dark color. Adjust colors as needed to make a color of your liking. Alternately, you can purchase pre-made black frosting.
  4. For the red, add a generous amount of red food dye to the frosting. Mix well. Adjust color as needed.
  5. Add frostings to piping bags and snip off the tips. Use a zip-top bag if you don’t have piping bags.
  6. To begin, make a large black dot in the center of each cookie. Add a stripe across the middle. Allow this color to set for about an hour.
  7. Pipe a white ring on around the edge of half the cookie and fill in the space below to the black stripe. Smooth with a toothpick.
  8. Repeat with the red on the other side of the cookie.
  9. Finally, press a chocolate chip into the center of the black dot.
  10. Chill in the fridge for one hour. Serve immediately.

What’s your favorite Pokémon?
