I can remember being stoked about getting to stand in line to get a school lunch in the cafeteria. It didn’t happen all the time. But on the rare occasion that my mom was having an “off” day, or if my brother and I were driving her crazy, we were allowed to buy lunch at school. Those were the best days! We got to feel cool for the 10 minutes we waited in line for fried chicken, biscuits, french fries, chocolate milk, and an enormous cookie for dessert, instead of waiting at the table (slightly pouting) while our friends stood in line.
Looking back on that today, I realize why we were almost never allowed to buy lunch from school. But, in a kid’s defense, a plain old turkey sandwich and carrot sticks never sounded too appealing. Today, there are so many options for school lunches. Many are extremely creative and make eating healthy homemade lunches a ton more fun. If I were a kid and my mom (or dad) made me one of these, I’d be one happy camper.
Who wouldn’t want to open a container and find one of these in there? I’m even considering doing this for myself for my own lunches. You 9 to 5-ers out there know what I’m talking about. Having a great lunch to look forward to makes all the difference. All I have to do is go to Target and get a pack of cookie cutters. I’m on board with this.
If you have a picky eater in your house, or if you want to make eating healthy more fun for your little ones, this is a great place to start.
