During the fall, I try to enjoy as many pumpkin and apple baked goods as I can. It’s sometimes difficult to choose between the two, so when they’re combined in one dessert, I feel like I’ve stumbled on a gold mine. Pumpkin Apple Dump Cake is one such recipe. It has flavors of both pumpkin and apple, so it’s an ideal fall treat.
This recipe has been featured on AllFreeCasseroleRecipes.com for awhile, but we recently had to update it because it called for a Tastefully Simple product that is not sold anymore. After some tweaking in our Test Kitchen, we found a great substitute. We used a spice cake mix and pumpkin pie spice in place of the pumpkin patch mix that was called for in the original recipe.
It turned out great! I could taste both apple and pumpkin in this sweet dessert. The original recipe was a crisp, but I turned it into more of a dump cake. After mixing the batter, all you have to do is dump and go. It was super easy to make and super good. Also, it cooked for just 3 1/2 hours, which is quite fast for a slow cooker recipe. Get the recipe to make this fall treat yourself.
*Make sure to place a paper towel under the lid to help absorb moisture.*
Enjoy!
