OK, unless you’re new to the planet, you’ve probably heard of Betty Crocker. I mean, who hasn’t seen the Betty Crocker Cookbook, or hasn’t seen…or used…her cake mixes? At our house, we love to cook and bake, so we feel like we’re all on a first-name basis with Betty. Over at RecipeLion, the Editors have found a bunch of Betty Crocker recipes using various mixes, so I’m sure my 2 1/2-year-old son and I will be baking soon!
I know one recipe we’ll have to try is the one that sounds really strange – Potato Bud Cookies. Yes, Potato Buds – those dried potato flakes that you use to make mashed potatoes in a jiffy. I’ve never made cookies like this, so I’m looking forward to trying something new. Of course, with little ones, almost every cooking experience is new, particularly if you view it through their eyes. That’s what makes cooking with my son such a joy! That, and the fact that we get to lick the beaters together.
Everyone at my house loves cookies, but we do love our potatoes, too. I found another recipe that involves potato chips in cookie-making, so maybe we’ll give that one a try, too. I’m sure my little guy will have a good time crushing those chips!
