What Foods to Put in Your Pic-a-Nic Basket

June 14, 2012 by JessicaT

We’re taking a bit of advice from our good friend Yogi Bear and getting ready for a fun summer picnic! Whether you’re looking to catch up with old friends or want to spend some quality time with your family, a picnic is a great way to get your loved ones to enjoy this beautiful summer weather!

Now, you could go the traditional route and pack up your trusty PB&J, bag of chips, and be on your way. Or, if you’re feeling a little adventurous, you can whip out your tried-and-true slow cooker for a dose of foodie madness with our favorite slow cooker picnic recipes from our friends over at AllFreeSlowCookerRecipes.com.

Slow Cooker Pork Ribs

How could you ever turn down a barbecue classic like Slow Cooker Pork Ribs? With tender, melt-in-your-mouth meat and a savory sauce, there’s no way your picnic will be complete without this tasty dish.

Buffalo Wings with Blue Cheese Dip

The kids will love having a finger food option, and none work quite as well as this recipe for Buffalo Wings with Blue Cheese Dip. Make a few or a whole bunch to keep everyone munching all day long!

Slow Cooker Corn on the Cob

Perhaps this is my inner Midwesterner showing, but it’s not truly summer until you’ve had your first ear of corn on the cob. This Slow Cooker Corn on the Cob recipe will have you chowing down on that summer classic without having to put in all that work to fire up the grill.

Molten Chocolate Lava Cake

What would a relaxing picnic be without a guilty indulgence? This recipe for Molten Chocolate Lava Cake is just waiting to ooze open with some irresistible, chocolat-y goodness. When it comes to dessert recipes, the gooier — the better!

Now it’s your turn to plan that weekend picnic and soak up some of that beautiful sunshine. If you’re feeling extra crafty, you could even make yourself your very own picnic blanket quilt to become a treasured item for lazy summer weekends.

We want to know! What’s your favorite picnic food? Leave us a note in the comments below!
